GAVRADES CAVE

In the village of Gavrades a cave is located under a cliff. The cave is 45 metres long and 6 metres wide. A large part of the cave is only 0.5 metre high. To have access to the cave a rope is necessary.

The cave has one entrance and one exit that leads to a gorge. The story that the locals used to pass through the cave during World War II in order to reach other villages on the northern part of the island, mainly Sidari, is not true.

In the cave there are lots of stalactites. On the left hand side of the cave is a water stream.
