GRAVA TOU ROUSELA CAVE

Search to the Grava tou Rousela cave started with reading Ioannis Boenias' book (1954). The author described the cave as: '3/4 of an hour from Kyprianades in a gorge in the direction of Sokraki - Valanio'. The cave was supposed to have some black spots caused by fire.

The Grava tou Rousela cave is located in the region of Agores - Bathes on the border of Valanio / Kyprianades. The gorge is in Valanio and the cave, just next to the gorge, is in Kyprianades. The entrance to the cave is 2 by 1 metres. The cave mesasures 3 by 3 square metres. A few walls have black spots.

Folklore and oral tradition:

For generations, folklore has told a tale about the cave. Two brothers nicknamed Rousela lived in the cave. Both brothers were living solitarily and did not want to be in contact with anybody else. Nowadays the villagers say: "Είσαι σαν τους Ρουσελαίους" ("You are like the Rousela brothers") if someone behave secluded or dissociated.
