NIMFES

SPILEO TOU MOROU CAVE              

In Nimfes close to Askitario there's a cellar ('kava') with the name Spileo tou morou cave (Cave of the bad ghost). According to the local lore 'moros' is a spirit that usually guards a hidden treasure and can be benevolent, occasionaly revealing it to individuals. When a person would suddenly get rich this would be attributed to an encounter with a moros. Besides this, a moros also has the habit of rolling heavy olive press millstones through the olive groves.
